Time for Action

The 'first global ministerial meeting on road safety' will begin a year from today, 19th November 2009, at the Kremlin in Moscow. The slogan for the conference: 'Time for Action'.

The UN road safety collaboration has been meeting for the past couple of days at the World Health Organization in Geneva. There has been a strong and very positive consensus on the need for a high profile and political conference, and a lot of support for the Make Roads Safe campaign's proposal for a 'Decade of Action'. The first preparatory meeting for the Moscow ministerial was held today, attended by a delegation from Russia led by Victor Kiryanov, co-chair of the organising committee, WHO, the Commission for Global Road Safety, Unicef, the World Bank and diplomats from many countries.
